These wonderful individuals are currently in our care and looking for humans to call their own! Please read their full description before you apply. In order to set our dogs (and their humans) up for success in the long run, it is crucial we carefully match them to the right applicant.
Bobber (male) - Adoption Pending
Meet the Tackle Box Litter. Sweet little floofs looking for their forever homes! They were born around the beginning of December 2024. Best guess is Malamute X Husky mix of sorts. We think they'll be large sized dogs when fully grown.
Have you met Bobber? He's quite the robber...of HEARTS! This boy is residing in a cozy foster home where he gets to hang out with other dogs, cats, and small children. He's a calm, cuddly guy who adores being with his people. He's currently working on his house training and will need consistent training around resource guarding. All the food and treats are just so yummy that Bob here wants them all to himself. I get it, Bobber, I don't share my food either. You can find our application here!

Why hello! My name is Hook
Do you wanna get to know me?
I sleep all night, right in my crate
And I go to the door to pee
I'm a pretty big cuddle bug
Yes indeed, it's true
I know some commands already
Maybe I could learn some from you!
I'm a shepherd & husky cross
So you better know your breeds
I like activities cause I'm a smart fella
Lots of exercise is one of my needs
If you think I'm the one
And your heart is whispering "apply"
You can find our application here!
C'mon, don't be shy
Maple
Remember Maple? She was a part of the "Breakfast Club" litter and was adopted through us a few months ago. Unfortunately Maple's people have some unexpected life changes ahead of them and can no longer give Maple the attention and time she needs (no judgement or negative comments, please!). Maple is still residing with her current family. We're hoping to find a new home soon so she doesn't have to come back to the kennel.
Maple is now around 7 months old. She is a spayed Husky X Shepherd (best guess). This is what her current owner has to say about this sweet girl:
Positives/progress
- Really good with other dogs, loves to play, would be best suited to a house with another dog to play with. She is on the schedule for Pinnacle Pets walks and could keep her spot! She does great on these off leash pack walks.
- Maple has had basic obedience classes with Alberni Valley Kennel Club so she knows her basic commands.
- Impulse control with food: she will sit, lie down, and stay until the go ahead is given to start eating.
- She will make it through the night occasionally, but usually wakes up to take a late night #2/pee. She lets her humans know she needs to go outside.
- Maple does really well waiting in the car and does good home alone. Any temptations (things she shouldn't chew, including plants) should be put away or blocked off. Generally she just sleeps while waiting for her people to return.
- Really good hanging out outside, at a fire, campsite, etc., she stays with the pack and enjoys being around everyone.
- Currently co-exists with a cat.
Maple (continued)
Needing work - When she is overexcited and wanting to play, she can't contain herself and will nip, jump up, paw in the face and zoom around the house, grabbing things she normally knows to "leave". Jumps up excitedly when preparing her Kong or food. - Although typically good with the cat, when overexcited, she gets tempted and wants to chase/play with the cat. - A bit mouthy getting treats - Potty training: sometimes she still pees (and poops - rarely) without much noticeable signals.
Our FERN team is here to assist with the things Maple needs some help learning, in her future home. You can find our application here!
Louie
Hello there, I'm Louie! A 2-ish year old Stafford X, about 45lbs (these are best guesses), ready to become your mini house hippo! The rescue peeps are just getting to know me, but so far I've heard things like "What a sweetheart", "look at your giant head!" (kinda rude, right?), "You are so gentle", so I think I'm making a pretty good impression! I am neutered now. My tail was amputated in the process, because I had some severe wounds on there that we're at high risk of infection. I'm a little anxious at the kennel where I'm staying right now and I would love to move into a foster (to adopt) home ASAP. Kennel life is not for me, no thanks! I'd rather curl up on the couch with the humans and go for adventures together.
Louie (continued...)
Being home alone would have to be built up slowly. I'm a strong boy, interested in ALL the smells and still getting used to leash walking, so someone who can handle a little tank, would be great. I seem to get along with other dogs just fine. Cats, not sure, haven't met those creatures yet. I should be fine with kids, maybe no super tiny ones though, I might knock them over.
Louie (continued...)
Head over to these FERN-folks' application if I sound like a good fit for you, yeah? I'd love to meet my new people soon and get outta here! Thank you for reading,
Louie
