Buddy

Buddy

Hi, my name's Benny! I'm a 2.5 year old Stafford X. I just got neutered and am finding myself in search of a foster (to-adopt) home asap! No fault of my own, I will say. I'm a very sweet natured boy! I lived with a cat and we got along nicely! I also lived with kids and although I'm a bit of a bull in a china shop, we loved each other very much! My leash manners aren't great, I can pull quite a bit when excited. But if you match my natural trotting pace, I make a great jogging buddy!

I get along with other dogs, but I prefer slow introductions. Walking from a distance before any close contact, ya know. That's because I was attacked by 2 off leash dogs last year and this made me somewhat unsure of new dogs. Although I've been doing fantastic with all dogs these rescue folks have introduced me to!

Benny (continued...)

I'm an active boy and like to stay busy, play with toys, learn new things. But I also LOVE to snuggle with my hoomans and I settle really nicely at home. I'm not loving life at the kennel, so I'm looking for a patient, fun foster home asap. If you fall in love with me while fostering, even better! I have some allergies (like so many pitties do!), but these rescue folks have me on meds now and are figuring all that stuff out!

Fill out an application for me here! Signing off with a big tail-wag! Benny

Maple

Maple

Hi There, Maple here. I'm around 10 months old. I'm told I,m a spayed Husky X Shepherd (best guess). I LOVE other dogs. They boost my confidence and playing with them helps get my energy out. I would be so happy if my new family has another dog I could live with. I can be a bit rough with small dogs, so medium and larger dogs are preferred as play mates. I've had basic obedience classes with Alberni Valley Kennel Club, so I know my basic commands!

I like car rides and I am okay being home alone, once I'm comfortable. Any temptations (things I shouldn't chew, including plants) should be put away or blocked off. Generally I just sleeps while waiting for my people to return. With the summer coming up, I'm excited to hang out outside, at a fire, campsite, etc., I stay with the pack and enjoy being around everyone.

Housetraining has been a bit of an ongoing work in progress with me. I'm typically good about going outside, but I get overwhelmed in new situations and can take a while to know where it's safe and okay for me to do my business. I'll need a very patient and understanding family who will be kind when I have an accidents, and who will set me up for success. A fenced yard really helps me with my housetraining, so that is kind of a must for me.

Maple (continued)

I can co-exists with a cat, if given sufficient outlets for my playful puppy energy. Otherwise I might try to play or chase.

I've been doing great with impulse control with food: I will sit, lie down, and stay until the go ahead is given to start eating. I'm super smart and really enjoy learning new things.

When I get overexcited and want to play, I can't always contain myself and will sometimes jump up and zoom around the house. I also jump up excitedly when my Kong or food is being prepared.

Our FERN team is here to assist with the things Maple needs some help learning, in her future home. You can find our application here!

Eden

Eden

Why hellow there! I'm Eden. I am around 2 years old. Best guess is that I'm a Husky X Lab X Shepherd mix, around 60lbs. Healthy, up to date on vaccines and spayed! I came into care with 3 of my pups. I then was adopted, but through no fault of my own, my family couldn't keep me. I'm back with the rescue folks now. I've adjusted quite nicely to kennel life again, although I'd much prefer living in a home with my people of course!

One thing about me, is that I'm super affectionate! I'm a velcro dog who likes to follow you around everywhere you go! I'm housetrained and do pretty well home alone once I'm used to my environment. My favourite activities are going on walks, playing fetch, having zoomies and snuggling. I hadn't spent much (if any) time being on a leash before I came to the rescue, so my leash manners aren't the best. I'm still learning. This means I can pull quite a bit when I see something exciting. I get leash-frustrated when I see other dogs. I don't understand why I can't just run up to them to say hi! I need a patient guardian who's able to help me with my reactions when on a leash.

Eden (continued...)

I like other dogs! Once I'm introduced to them, I want to play and I go hard! Not all dogs are a fan of my big energy. I think cats are very fun to chase, so probably best if there's no smaller critters in my new home. I'm friendly with all humans and I like kiddos too! I'm a smart girlie, if I do say so myself! Treats help me a lot when learning new concepts. I know "sit", "down" and "wait". My fetch-skills are pretty good and I have a decent recall (if there's no distractions).

If you're looking for a sweet snuggle-buddy, fill out an application for me here! Looking forward to hearing from you! Eden

Sadie

Sadie

Sweet Senior Sadie's in the house! Hey everyone, I'm Sadie. Look into my eyes and you will see...the sweetest soul calling to thee! I'm about 11 years old. But don't let that number fool you, I've got lots of life left in me, I am a Staffy X after all! My owner unfortunately passed away a little while ago, which led me here. The kennel is no place for a senior citizen, so please come and bail me out! I'm a very affectionate, easy going and well rounded lady. Around 55lbs. Very mobile still, I leap into the car without giving it a second thought! That's because I love going places with my humans and exploring all the sniffs the world has to offer.

I am smart, will do anything for a treat and am great company for hanging out at home, too. I get along with other dogs when out and about, cats don't phase me either. But I'm not sure I want to share my home with other pets. I can be indifferent at first, but when high value resources are around, I can act a bit grumpy and show only-child-behaviours. Perhaps it's something my new home can work on with me, after all I've been through a LOT of changes recently and I might just need some time to feel happy and comfortable again. We'd have to meet and see how we go with any resident pets, in a cautious manner!

Sadie (continued...)

Little kiddos are probably not the best match for me right now, in my older age I deserve a quiet place to land. Dog-savvy kids 12 and up should be fine, though. I have some allergies, so I take a pill every day. I'm currently dealing with an ear infection flare-up, but I'm a doll about having my ears cleaned, so hopefully that's no deal breaker for you!

If you have room in your heart and house for a gentle sweet pea, please fill out an application here.

Teddy

Teddy

Hey everyone, my name's Teddy. I'm a large (90lbs) senior lady, maybe a  Chow mix of sorts, between 9 and 14 years old. Don't let my age fool  you, I'm still very playful and goofy! I have those puppy eyes to go  with my fun personality. I LOVE spending time with hoomans and I can  appreciate the company of respectful 4-legged friends too (unknown  around cats, but everyone's hopeful I could get along with them just  fine). Unfortunately  my owner passed away recently, so I ended up with the rescue folks. I'm  now in a cozy foster home and I'm loving that a LOT more than kennel  life, let me tell you! I love playing with toys, playing fetch, going on  walks and swimming in the lake or ocean.

Teddy (continued)

Ideally, I'd find myself a home where one of my pack members is home  for a good chunk of the day. Although I'm totally fine being home alone, too. I need to lose a little bit of weight so my joints can carry me for the next few years of my life. Other than some ear infections and mild allergies (both of which are being treated) I'm in good health! Do you have a warm and loving home that's in need of the sweetest floof? Not interested in going through the puppy phases or crazy teens? I might be the solution for you! A well established, well socialized, easy going mature dog! I will not let you down!

Minnow

Minnow

Hello friends! I'm Minnow, a 5 month old beauty with the softest fur and a soul to match! While I, of course, have some of the typical puppy pizzaz, I can also be as calm and as mellow as can be, snoozing by your feet and sharing the contentment of being your favourite furry companion. A loving look from me will melt your heart and make your day better! I'm wonderful and gentle with all people (including children) and have not shown any sign of resource guarding or aggression. I'm also great with other dogs, eager to be a playmate and do what it takes to get along.

I'm a fast learner and know how to sit, shake a paw, jump over your leg, come, and I walk mostly well on a leash. I've taken my time becoming housetrained, but with a little more patience, I'll be there soon! I'm also still is teething and I chew on the occasional thing but am generally easy going and happier with a chew toy. I'm a growing puppy (likely growing to be a larger dog) and love to eat! When I get hungry, I'm still working on learning indoor boundaries (for example, not taking food off the counters). However, I'm eager to please and with some consistent training, will grow up to be a phenomenal dog!

Minnow (continued...)

I've spent most of my short life in a household with four children and another larger dog and I LOVE to run and play outdoors. I deserves a loving home with regular exercise and companionship, as I very much love company. Unfortunately, I haven't not done as well as expected with poultry and would probably not be suitable in a home with chickens or small animals.

If you're looking for a sweet family member to complete your unit, fill out an application for me here!

Nori

Nori

Hi everyone! Nori here. Our mom (Oshi - See Adopted Dogs) is only 40lbs and we're pretty small too. Hard to predict, but our best guess is that we'll be medium sized dogs (50-60lbs when fully grown, maybe?). Best guess for our date of birth is around mid February 2025. Our mom seems like she may be a Collie x. We kinda look like a chihuahua x at the moment if you ask us, but who really knows! We're 100% adorable! That's all that matters! We're sweet, affectionate, playful, brave and smart!

Nori

I'm a bit of shy gal. I like to take my time getting to know new people. The world can be kinda scary. I like to observe first and eagerly follow my big foster sister around. Another dog would be awesome in my new home. Or maybe a feline friend! I love snuggling with humans once I know them, am carefully interested in other dogs and I love treats and food. I will be an amazing mid sized companion for a fun family!
